Mount Desert is a small residential town with
many summer residents and vacation homes. It is located at the uppermost tip
of Mount Desert Island, in the heart of Acadia National Park. |
| Hall Quarry, which abuts this area is rich in history of the 1800's when
the area's granite and other stone was cut from the mountainside and
shipped around the world. Some of the older machinery can still be found
where it has sat for over 100 years. | |
| The next largest city is world famous Bar Harbor, with its historic downtown shops and galleries, ferry service to Nova Scotia and home to many whale watch, fishing vessels and sailing tours and charters. |
